A 19th century American Presentation Banjo clock. 8-day weight driven time only movement with a painted Iron dial and Arabic numerals signed "A. Willard Jr., Boston". Mahogany case with Gilded front, Brass finial over a molded Brass dial door, tapered throat panel with applied rope moldings and reverse painted glass flanked by shaped Brass side arms, lower door with a reverse painted Naval Battle scene labeled "United States-Macedonia" over a shaped drop with carved detail. Older finish with some wear, some dial wear, minor loss to Gilding, touch-ups to the glasses, replaced finial, running momentarily when cataloged. 40 1/2" high overall. ESTIMATE $3,000-4,000

American Mahogany 8 Day Weight Driven Banjo Regulator Wall Clock, Attr: Simon Willard, Massachusetts. 12 in. painted metal dial inscribed “Simon Willard, Roxbury” with black Roman hour numerals, 3 in. sub seconds dial and fine quality blued hands. Brass 8 day weight driven time only regulator movement with Graham deadbeat escapement, maintaining power, keystone with T-bridge suspension, gilt wood pendulum stick with brass covered bob, lockdown hardware and lead weight hanging from a brass pulley. The banjo style case has a flanged door bezel, hinged throat and lower door with reverse painted black and gold leaf on old wavy glass; clock is topped with a carved fluer de lis finial. Case finish has been scrubbed and overcoated, missing lock for dial door bezel with small veneer missing beside the key hole area, bottom of case shows impact damage and repair from weight, original glasses with restoration to the paint and gold leaf; has door keys, dial appears original with original signature. Dimensions: 61 in. high x 20.5 in. wide x 6.25 in. deep.

An early 19th century Willard type Banjo wall clock. 8-day weight driven time only “A frame” movement usually associated with makers in the Newport RI area, with painted metal dial marked “Simon Willard & Son, No. 04719”. Gilded case with Brass arms and restored “B. Esposito” reverse painted throat and door glasses. Some wear and older repairs, several repainted areas. 41″ high.
