An early 20th century German Black Forest mantel Cuckoo shelf clock. Good quality Brass 8-day time and strike movement with Cuckoo and Gong strike, wooden dial with applied Roman numerals. Oak case with scalloped crest and upper balcony supported by turned columns flanking the dial, lower picket fence detail on a molded base with carved frieze and cut out bracket feet. Older finish with original Ebonized detail, running when cataloged. 22 1/4" high. ESTIMATE $800-1,200

A 20th century Black Forest Cuckoo clock. 30-hour three train wood weight driven time and strike movement with quarter hour "Cuckoo and Quail" strike, wood dial and applied Roman numerals. Carved Black Forest style Walnut case with Grape vine detail. Original finish with wear and minor damage, running when cataloged, quail needs adjustment. 22 1/2" high plus weight drop. Black Forest Cuckoo Shelf Clock: with a time and half hour gong strike, 5 3/4″ dial and working cuckoo. The hands and Roman numeral hour markers are simulated ivory. In a stained wood case.
(The wood finish shows some wear. It looks like some side trim is gone on both sides of the front.)
