An early 19th century English grandfather clock by “Geo. Harvey, Stipling”. 8-day weight driven time and strike movement with painted dial. Mahogany case with low broken arch crest, molded columns and scalloped case. Old finish with some wear and minor damage. 87″ high.

English Mahogany Grandfather Clock. Large painted metal dial has a 13 in. chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals, floral painted corner spandrels and country scenic painted arch, has a sub seconds dial over a 31 date sub calendar dial and fancy pierced and engraved gilt hands; signed Robert Wigan, Colne (circa 1820-1830). Brass 8 day weight driven movement has a recoil escapement, one hour rack strike mechanism with drop hammer strike on a steel bell at the top of the movement, brass pulleys and 2 iron weights, brass covered pendulum bob with steel rod. In an English mahogany case with broken arched pediment crest having gilt brass rosettes, eagle and sphere finial, turned corner columns on the bonnet, inset & carved panels in the door and base with turned quarter corner columns. In good condition, has an overcoated finish, nice flame mahogany veneer, a few seam cracks in the veneer but clock is overall very nice. 97 in. high x 12 in. wide x 28 in. deep.
