Stanstead, L.C. (Lower Canada). 1830s. Mixed softwoods with ebonized half columns and a stencilled splat. Porter Kimball sold clocks in the Eastern Townships of Lower Canada from the town of Stanstead. See page 102 of "Early Canadian Timekeepers" by Jane Varkaris and James E. Connell. The lower door mirror backing shows pencil writing with names and dates of previous repairs and servicings. Label inside rear case reads, "Improved Clocks Manufactured and Sold by Porter Kimball Stanstead L.C. (Lower Canada). The arched tops of the splat are missing. Replaced lower door tablet mirror. Requires weights and a pendulum. Untested for functionality. 33"H x 16.5"W x 5.5"D.

Canadian. 1830-1836. Hardwood veneer with inlaid bone door escutcheon. Horace Burr and his brother, Charles, sold clocks at Dundas, Upper Canada in the 1830-1836 period. This clock features a Terry-type wooden works movement. See page 148 of "Early Canadian Timekeepers" by Jane Varkaris and James E. Connell. An early Canadian merchant clock. Sold by Horace Burr, Dundas U.C. (Upper Canada). Scattered losses from the inner case label. Minor veneer losses. Requires one weight and a pendulum bob. The lower door glass is replaced, likely originally a reverse painted tablet or mirror. 33"H x 17.5"W x 5"D.

American Seymour Williams & Porter, Farmington Conn. Wood Works Bronzed Looking Glass Clock, Circa 1830, 12″ original painted wood dial, 30-hour, wood movement, bronzed looking glass clock with excellent label stating “Patent Clocks Invented by Eli Terry, Manufactured & Sold by Seymour Williams & Porter”, good restored condition, stenciling & glasses, nicely painted original dial faded a bit. Height 34 1/4″.

Seymour, Williams & Porter Shelf Clock: 8 day, weight driven wood works with bell strike. In a mahogany and veneer case with carved columns and splat. The 10″ wood dial has floral trim and a seconds bit. The interior label is nearly all legible, the bottom portion is stained. The upper glass and mirror are original. There are weights and a pendulum with it, but no key.
(The clock is not running. The mirror backing has some problems. The movement is just pressed into place, not properly mounted.)
