Old Time Only Weight Driven Banjo Clock: the movement has initials R.S.J. stamped onto it. The case under the lower door has initials D.L.W. stamped into it. The metal dial is 7 1/2″ wide. It was repainted by James B. West. The patriotic center and custle painted lower glasses look original. The case is rosewood grained cherry wood. It has an 8 day movement and the pendulum rod is wood.
28 3/4″ long and in good running order.
The owner suggests the R.L.W. initials on the case stands for David Wood.

Original 8 in. painted metal dial has black Roman hour numerals and black hands; typical brass weight driven time only 8 day movement has a steel pendulum rod and brass covered bob, brass pulley with lead weight. Mahogany banjo style case has brass door bezel with convex glass, pierced brass side arms, reverse painted throat glass and reverse painted lower tablet with Apollo scene; rope twisted carving around the lower door & throat frame and turned acorn finial on top. Gilt finish is worn from the finial, door & throat framework, throat is glued in place, lower tablet is an old replacement, dial has some flaking & paint loss with some inpainting, the case is refinished and the side arms are not attached. 31 in. high x 10 in. wide x 4 in. deep.

In a mahogany banjo style case with turned teardrop finial and original reverse painted floral throat glass and scenic tablet; in good condition. Mahogany banjo style case has brass bezel, pierced brass side arms, turned brass finial, gilt & rope twist carved framing around the throat and tablet; reverse painted throat glass with filigree, eagle & shield and reverse painted tablet with scene depicting PerryÂs Victory at Lake Erie. In good condition, has some surface tarnish to the brass, no breaks or cracks to the glasses. 34 in. high x 10 in. wide x 4 in. deep.
