A late 19th century Ithaca Favorite No. 4 1/2 model calendar shelf clock. 8-day spring driven movement with lower calendar mechanism, papered metal dials with Roman upper numerals and Arabic lower. Walnut case with a carved crest over an arched molded cornice and conforming molded door on a molded plinth. Older refinishing with a nicely restored crest, replaced backboard, re-papered dials and rollers, running when cataloged. 31" high. ESTIMATE $400-600

Ithaca No. 4.5 Favorite Calendar Shelf Clock. 8 in. paper time dial has Roman hour numerals, black spade hands and silvered bezel. Brass 8 day, spring driven movement, strikes on a coiled gong, has count wheel strike mechanism and brass covered pendulum bob; movement signed E.N. Welch and made for Ithaca Clock Co. 8 in. Lower calendar dial has 31 day calendar with exposed pendulum bob with day & month cylinders; calendar mechanism has original cylinders and is in good working condition, singed Manufactured for McGhee & Son. In a carved walnut case with fancy crest, raised burled panels and incised dial board; reverse painted gilt door glass reads – Favorite, has original finish and good condition. 32 in. high

The upper movement is marked “Manf’d for the Ithaca Clock Co., E. N. Welch M’f’g Co. Forestville, Conn U. S. A. “. In a Walnut case with a single molded door and carved crown. Older finish with minor wear, some dial discoloration, chip in upper right return molding, running and striking sluggishly when cataloged. 31” high.
