Gilbert ÂOriental Calendar Mantle Clock. 8 in. paper dial has black Roman hour numerals and black hands, pierced brass spring driven movement with half hour count wheel strike mechanism and coiled gong, signed Wm. Gilbert Clock Co., Winsted, Conn. USA. Reverse painted door glass is black with a pair of birds nesting in the reeds of a pond, has gilt borders around 3 open apertures exposing the month, date and day on 3 rotating discs of the calendar movement attached to the back of the door. In an oak case with turned bar crest piece, fish scale carved frieze, teardrop turnings on the sides over carved corbels and beaded border on the door frame. In good condition and original finish, original door glass, dial, calendar discs, original paper labels are excellent and timepiece & calendar are in running condition. 27 in. high x 15 in. wide x 5 in. deep.
