A 17th century English Lantern clock by "Thomas Bagley, at the Mearmaid in Lothbury". 30 hr single weight time and strike movement with verge escapement, engraved Brass dial and Roman numerals, single iron hand. Brass frame with exposed upper bell, turned posts and finials, engraved filigree panels with serpents in foliage. Some wear, older restoration, lacks side doors and feet, running momentarily when cataloged. Approx. 48" high plus weight drop below the pendulum. ESTIMATE $800-1,200

Brass English Lantern Clock, Thwaite and Reed: The back plate is marked “Thwaite & Reed – Clerkenwell 14999” with the date of 1886. The brass dial reads “Robert Robinson – London” with engraved flowers around it.
The double fusee movement is in working order and strikes.

A first period English brass lantern clock of theCharles I period to early Commonwealth period,by noted clockmaker William Selwood (British, 1607-1653). Inscribed across the front fret: "William Selwood at ye Maremaid in Louthbury." Roman numerals, floral engraved face. Offered with brass weight, cotton cord, and a later wooden wall bracket.
The clock measures 16" x 7 1/2" x 7"not including bracket or weight.
