Boston Slate Tandem Wind Mantel Clock: It has one keyhole and an unmarked paper dial. In a slate case with metal ornaments and a mask. There is a key and pendulum with the clock.

(The clock is wound tight and is not running at this time. There are chips on the back corner of the case. there is a crack on one side and glue residue on the back. The dial has a small chip.)

Has a 4 in. porcelain dial with roman black hour numerals, original spade black hands, hairline in dial; the brass spring driven movement has a lever escapement and half hour rack & snail strike mechanism on a coiled gong. Movement is signed Boston Clock Co. and numbered B8808; in a gilt brass case with beveled glasses and rounded corners. Movement is double spring wound though a single arbor; movement is not running, the springs do not hold power. 9.75 in. high x 6.5 in. wide x 5 in. deep.

Porcelain faced tandem wind carriage clock in brass case with low bracket feet. Manufactured by the Boston Clock Company. The works are marked with a patent Date of Dec 28, 1880. A rare 11″ mantel clock by Boston Clock Company with a brass and bevel glass case containing a rare 1880 patented “tandem wind” clockworks, wherein the single winding arbor engages both the time and strike mechanism by winding springs in both directions. Having a balance wheel escapement.
