mahogany case in the form of a violin, 19th century spring driven 8-day brass Seth Thomas "Lyre" movement, gong, pendulum and dial
29 1/2 x 13 1/2 x 5 inches
The case closely matches those made by Time Davis or T.N. Harvell in the 1970's. See Tran Duy Ly's "Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements," 3rd Edition, Vol. 2, pp. 746-749.

Reproduction of Seth Thomas Violin Clock. 5 in. paper dial with black hour numerals and open moon hands, 20th century reproduction spring driven movement is unsigned, has an half hour rack & snail strike mechanism on a coiled gong and a brass covered pendulum bob. In a carved walnut violin shaped case, has a serpentine body with carved embellishments and carved scroll above the pegs, door glass has reverse gilt design and stands on a splayed base. 30 in. high.

Thomas, Thomaston, Conn. U.S.A. Â fancy brass lyre shaped plates, count wheel half hour strike mechanism, coiled gong on iron mount and silvered pendulum bob with gilt center medallion with ST. &.Co. logo. In a carved walnut violin shaped case, has a serpentine boy with carved embellishments and carved scroll above the pegs, door glass has reverse gilt design and stands on a splayed base. 29 in. high

Seth Thomas Violin Mantel Clock: walnut case with a 6″ metal dial, a signed time and strike movement with No. 5 7/8, and a patent date of Dec 28,1875.
(The lower strings are tattered, some chips and nicks at the top including a string adjuster.)
30 1/2″ T x 13 1/4″ W x 4 5/8″ D at the base, 4″ from the back to the door front.
