An early 20th century Seth Thomas "No. 5" model 4-bell Sonora chime mantel clock. 8-day time and strike #90D movement with quarter hour striking on four Sonora bells in Westminster Cathedral chimes, a convex Silvered dial with Arabic numerals. "Mahogany" Adamantine case with molded pediment top and Brass dial door. Minor wear, replaced flat columns, bells need adjusting, running when cataloged. 14" high. ESTIMATE $200-300

Description: Up for auction is a very cool vintage Seth Thomas Sonora Chime mantel clock. The clock does not run reliably, only ticking for a few seconds before stopping. The chime is still functional, having different bells to make up the notes of the classic Westminster Quarters chime. The clock has four points of winding: two mainspring winding holes, one speed adjustment hole, and one hole to wind the chime. The chime hole post is slightly off-center, making it difficult to reach with the included key. We recommend having this clock serviced after purchase at the buyers expense, especially by an experienced clockmaker.
