An early 20th century Seth Thomas "No. 266" model 8-bell Sonora chime mantel clock. 8-day time and strike #104A movement with quarter hour striking on eight Sonora bells in either Whittington or Westminster Cathedral chimes, a convex Silvered dial with applied Arabic numerals. Mahogany case with arched top and inlaid detail having a Brass dial door with convex beveled glass on a molded base. Restored finish with minor wear, some dial wear, running when cataloged. 18 1/4" high. ESTIMATE $1,000-2,000

Description: Up for auction is a very cool vintage Seth Thomas Sonora Chime mantel clock. The clock does not run reliably, only ticking for a few seconds before stopping. The chime is still functional, having different bells to make up the notes of the classic Westminster Quarters chime. The clock has four points of winding: two mainspring winding holes, one speed adjustment hole, and one hole to wind the chime. The chime hole post is slightly off-center, making it difficult to reach with the included key. We recommend having this clock serviced after purchase at the buyers expense, especially by an experienced clockmaker.
