A mid 19th century E. Terry & Sons (Plymouth, Conn) shelf clock. 30 hr time and strike wooden works movement with a painted wooden dial. Mahogany case with carved crest, single long door with a reverse painted lower panel flanked by carved pilasters on a base with carved paw feet. Older finish with minor damage, replaced crest and tablet, running momentarily when cataloged. 29" high. ESTIMATE $300-400

Eli Terry and Sons Pillar and Scroll Shelf Clock, Plymouth, Connecticut, ca. 1820s. Weight driven, wooden works, with beautiful hand painted dial, reverse painted glass tablet, wooden urn finials, very nice label, “Patent Clocks, Invented by Eli Terry, Made and Sold at Plymouth Connecticut, E. Terry & Sons.”, measures approx. 31 1/2″ tall x 16 1/2″ wide x 4 1/2″ deep. Many Eli Terry Clocks which depict a home or building on the reverse painted glass tablet, are actual homes in the Town of Plymouth and surrounding Connecticut towns of the time period.
