DESCRIPTION: Bronze mantle clock featuring a black patina throughout, gryphons on its sides holding scrolls; a crowned and haloed bust and toward its bottom; and foliage, scroll, and medallion designs at the top. Piece is embellished with marble inserts, crowned with an urn-form finial, and finished with gilt accents and trimmings. Marks on movement: "JAPY FRERES MED D'HONNEUR" and "7955". Pendulum and two keys included. From the estate of Palm Beach collector, Ronald Brown.

Japy Freres French Bronze Mantle Clock. 4 in. bronze dial with a copper tone, has incised Roman hour numerals, fancy gilt hands and brass bezel with beveled door glass; typical round French brass 8 day spring driven movement is signed Japy Freres and has an half hour strike on a steel bell. In a bronze case with figural robed maiden side columns in front of scrolling corbels and gilt highlights. Case has a replaced top finial and a lacquered finish. 17 in. high x 12 in. wide x 6.5 in. deep.

3 Pc. Japy Freres Bronze and Marble Clock Set. Marked Rustan Beziers on the floral decorated enamel dial. The clock is supported on a marble pillar with a winged cherubs and floral garlands on the sides and an urn on top. Candle sticks are pillar forms with 2 arms. Time and strike movement. Clock is running at this time.

Japy Freres Bronze & Marble Clock Garniture Set: With 1/2 hour bell strike movement, No. 1637 and a brown marble dial. The gilt bronze case is topped with an urn and decorated with acanthus leaves. There are brown marble inserts on the case. The side pieces are 5 cup candelabras, each with it’s own snuffer. All 3 pieces sit on separate wooden bases or platforms which are original to the set.
Not tested.
(There is a small nick on the front of the clock case.)

Japy Freres & Cie French Bronze & Marble Clock: made in 2 pieces, the marble base is separate. The time and half hour bell striking movement is signed Japy Freres & Cie, Jx Deniere-1856. The 4 1/4″ porcelain dial is also signed Deniere Ft De Bronzes- A Paris. The case has a woman, books and scientific instruments on it.
(The dial has chips at the 60 minute mark and the right hand key slot.)
