A mid 19th century J. C. Brown, Forestville, Conn., Ripple front, Four Column O. G. Gothic (Onion Top) shelf clock. 8-day Brass, spring driven time & strike movement with painted metal dial. Grain painted “Rosewood” Onion top case with applied Ripple moldings, four turned finials and columns and a single conforming door with etched lower glass. Old finish with some wear, repainted dial, running momentarily when cataloged. 19 1/2″ high.

J.C. Brown Ripple Front Beehive Mantle Clock. 4.5 in. painted metal dial with black Roman hour numerals and good period hands, signed J.C. Brown Forestville, Ct. US.; brass spring driven movement has an hour strike on a coiled gong and brass covered pendulum bob, movement signed J.C. Brown, Forestville, Conn. and partial paper label in the back of the case. In a rosewood beehive case with ripple carved front and reverse painted tablet. In good condition with a clean original finish, has a minor repair to the upper bezel beside the door hinge. 15.5 in. high x 9 in. wide x 3.5 in. deep.

Not tested.
(The dial may have been replaced, there is veneer damage to the top of the clock; on the back of the peak on both sides and on the front left side of the peak.)
