Howard & Davis No. 2 Banjo Clock. 10 in. painted metal dial has black Roman hour numerals, open moon hands, singed Howard & Davis Boston; Quality brass, weight driven, 8 day movement with recoil escapement, brass covered pendulum bob with gilt wood stick, brass pulley and iron weight. In a rosewood banjo style case having black & gilt reverse painted door and throat glasses; bottom of case and door are loose; glasses are repainted and pendulum stick is repainted, in very good original finish and good running condition. 44 in. high.

Rare Howard & Davis No. 4 Banjo Clock. Original 8 in. painted metal dial signed ÂHoward & Davis, Boston has black Roman hour numerals and blued open moon hands; brass weight driven 8 day time only movement signed ÂA. Howard, Boston and ÂD.P. Davis has a solid brass pulley, iron No. 4 weight, ebonized wood pendulum stick and brass covered bob. In a rosewood grain painted banjo style case with reverse gilt and black painted throat and tablet glasses. Nice overall condition, original finish, no inpainting to the glasses, weight baffle replaced, brass cover is loose from the bob. Albert Howard, a cousin of Edward Howard, went into partnership in Dec. 1858 as ÂE. Howard & CompanyÂ; in March of 1861 they formed a joint stock company called the ÂHoward Clock & Watch Company where Albert Howard was chosen as President and Edward as Superintendent & Treasurer. The factory was closed in May of 1863 and in October of the same year, Edward was able to reform the company with himself as President. 32 in. high x 13.5 in. wide x 4 in. deep. Weight: 17.25 lbs.

Davis Clock Co. Calendar Clock. Original Davis 8 in. paper dial has black Roman hour numerals with 31 date numbers outside, open center, blued pierced spade hands and brass day indicator; singed ÂWm. L. Gilbert Clock Co. 8 day brass spring driven movement has an half hour countwheel strike on a coiled gong and fancy repousse brass covered pendulum bob with steel rod. In an oak Gilbert ÂLong Branch model case with turned rosettes and spiral turned columns on the sides, reverse painted black & gilt dial glass and reverse gilt decorated lower door glass; ÂThe Davis Clock Co. large paper label in the back of the case. This clock was manufactured by Gilbert and modified by the Davis Co. to be a calendar clock, all original, excellent condition and finish. 28 in. high x 16 in. wide x 5 in. deep.
