Brass Cartier Striking Desk Clock. 3.75 in. engraved brass dial signed ÂCartier, Striking has porcelain insets with black Roman hour numerals, black hands, gilt brass corner spandrels and square beveled glass on the front; brass spring driven 11 jewel movement signed ÂConcord Watch Co., SwissÂ, has an hour bell strike. In a brass case with hinged handle, gilt brass trim and turned feet. Front, sides & top are decorated with a red enamel faux tortoise shell pattern. In good condition, strikes, time mechanism is not running. Engraved on the rear door ÂSam B. A Fine Chinese-Style Cartier Luxor Clock In Black & Gold Tones. Cartier desk alarm clock, the movement by Luxor, Swiss, made circa 1960s, is a gilt-brass and painted 8-day going desk clock with alarm and decorative Louis XV style brass handle. The clock has top, sides and base painted black, hinged back door with elaborate cut-out scrolled circular relief, and brass feet. The elaborate two-tone champagne dial features cut-out acanthus leaf background, with matte hour reserve with painted black roman numerals and fleur-de-lis, the dial signed Cartier and Luxor, with painted black Louis XVI hands and gilt alarm hand. Condition: Has superficial scratches due to normal usage, storage, and age. Has areas of patina. Overall condition is good. The outer box has damage to one of the edges and is in fair condition. The inner leather box is is good condition. Running at the time of inspection, however not checked for accuracy nor water resistance/proofness. An overhaul is always recommended for used clocks.
Special Notes: The dial also has the word MECANIQUE incorporated into the Roman numeral 4 and 8 SWISS A.O.S.C. 8. A.O.S.C. stands for Appellation d Origine Suisse Certifiee. Swiss made.
