Bronze Amour Silk Thread Mantle Clock. Polished gilt bronze figure of Cupid in a relaxed pose leaning against the clock tower which has his bow, a quiver of arrows, an urn and a lionÂs hide; Amour himself holds Hercules club, as the scene seems to represent that love (Amour) is even more powerful than Hercules. Has a 3.5 in. porcelain dial with open moon hands, typical round brass 8 day spring driven silk thread movement with half hour strike on a bell. Gilded finish has some tarnish to the surface and the dial has some damage; movement and case are unsigned. 20 in. high x 16 in. wide x 5.5 in. deep.

The case depicts the classic winged figure of Amour in a medium dark brown patina, he is standing beside a pedestal, draped with a robe, holding a shield which reads Amour et Gloire (Love & Glory), behind the shield is a helmet with a pair of doves representing the theme of love; has a turned bronze finial over a green marble platform with wreath mounts and a bronze base with turned feet, beautiful dore finish. 4.5 in. Convex porcelain dial with black Roman hour numerals and Arabic 15 minute markers, hairline at 12 OÂclock and blued open moon hands; early, round, brass, silk thread movement has half hour count wheel strike mechanism with a steel bell. In very good condition with a clean finish, no breaks or repairs, movement is running. 16.5 in. high x 11.5 in. wide x 5 in. deep.
