T/S, painted and cracked wood dial. Brass inner works with ‘BM&Co’ stamp and later engraved repairman’s name from Springfield, Ill. Original tablet, split dial, replaced middle tablet, repainted columns, crude veneer repairs, replaced splat. Measures 35.5 x 17 x 5 inches.

A mid 19th century Birge, Gilbert & Co. Double decker shelf clock. 8-day strap Brass weight driven time and strike with painted wooden dial. Mahogany case with molded crown, upper door with reverse painted lower glass flanked by turned columns above a lower door with reverse painted glass all on squat turned feet. Old finish with some wear and minor damage, repainted lower glasses. Running when cataloged. 35 1/2″ high.
