A fine 19th century French gilt brass carriage clock with calendar in the manner of Abraham Louis Breguet
The Classically inspired case with folding bud handle and four bud finials on an engine turned ground over rosettes and reeded columns to a matching base on button feet, the white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals, minute track and blued steel trefoil hands over a subsidiary date dial within an engine turned mask, the movement with twin barrels driving a gilt platform with bimetallic balance to a lever escapement, the strike and repeat on a bell behind a shuttered rear panel. Together with an associated mid 19th century leather covered travel case and a double ended key. 16cms (6.25ins) high.

This carriage clock is closely modelled on the early travel clocks by the great Abraham Louis Breguet. Comparable examples by Breguet were sold in these rooms 11 December 2019, lot 106 (Breguet number 2889, circa 1804), lot 107 (Breguet number 4248, circa 1837) and lot 109 (Breguet number 2963, circa 1820).

Large French Gilt Brass Crystal Ball Clock. Fancy 4.25″ porcelain dial signed “Ovington Brothers, New York” has silvered brass hour numbers applied to green enamel decorated panels with gilt highlights, sub seconds dial; round French 8 day spring driven time only movement is stem wind, pin set and in running condition. In a round gilt brass case with hinged bow and winding stem on top, the bezel is decorated with clear and green rhinestones and has large glass magnifying crystals on the front and back. Good overall condition, running, both crystals have a chip along the edge. 6.5″ high x 5″ wide x 5″ deep. Weight: 4.5 lbs.

Austrian Gilt Bronze Musical Clock: With silk string suspension, 2 bells, 4 piece calendar dial and unmarked movement. The case has a squatting eagle. On the sides there are feathered half ladies with lion masks on their heads. They stand on claw and ball feet. Under the clock is a chained gallery of columns on a floor with zig-zag designs. The musical tone is “Ostalder in Wien”.
The clock winds OK and runs.

French Gilt Brass Hanging Cartel Clock. 5 in. porcelain dial has black Roman hour numerals, blued 5 minute numbers outside, fancy gilt pierced hands and rope-twist door bezel with beveled crystal; French round brass spring driven movement has an half hour countwheel strike mechanism with bell, marked Paris. In a gilt brass case with allover pierced filigree design, has a repair to the finial on the rear plate. 23.75 in. high x 9 in. wide x 4 in. deep.
