Endler, in Prag” has 2 sub dials measuring 4 in. dia., the upper mean time sub dial has 24 hour numbers and chapter ring with 60 minute markers, the upper dial has a sub seconds dial inside with nice pierced hour and minute hands and reads “Morgem Abend, Wahre Mittlere Sonenzeit, Mitternacht”; the lower sidereal time 24 hour sub dial has 60 minute markers, inner ring with zodiac names and symbols, singed “Sterne Zeit”, dial has a gilt brass piecrust bezel. Brass single weight driven time only 30 day movement with long ebonized wood pendulum stick, brass covered bob, pierced brass 5 spoke pulley and brass covered weight. In a rosewood case with arched top, carved corners on the door and carved lower bracket. Has an enhanced original finish, 2 spider hairlines in the dial. Mean time or “solar time” is based on the earth’s rotation of 360 degrees lasting 24 hours; Sidereal time, meaning “Star Time”, is based on the earth’s rotation around the sun in which it includes the 360 degree rotation of the earth plus about 1 degree more to compensate for the Earth’s orbit around the sun.
