Seth Thomas City Series Newark. 6 in. painted metal dial with black Roman hour numerals, spade hands; spring driven movement No. 5 7/8, signed – S. Thomas, Thomaston, Conn. U.S.A. fancy brass lyre shaped plates, count wheel strike mechanism, brass covered fancy decorated pendulum bob, coiled gong, separate spring and steel bell for alarm strike. Walnut case with leaf carved crest, fancy scrolls on the sides and splayed base; gilt reverse decorated door glass. Alligatored finish, minor repair to one side carvings and some paint loss to dial. 22 in. high x 14 in. wide.

Seth Thomas City Series Newark. 6 in. paper dial with black Roman hour numerals, open center with brass alarm indicator disc, spade hands; spring driven movement No. 5 7/8, signed – S. Thomas, Thomaston, Conn. U.S.A. pierced brass plates, count wheel strike mechanism, brass fancy decorated pendulum bob, coiled gong, alarm strike has a rare Winward’s Patent Railway Alarm mechanism which alternately strikes the bell and gong, the power runs off of the mainspring for the strike mechanism and has a shut off lever switch at the top of the case. Walnut case with leaf carved crest, fancy scrolls on the sides and splayed base; gilt reverse decorated door glass. 22 in. high x 14 in. wide.
