Red-stained Maple Oliver Brackett Dwarf Clock, Vassalboro, Maine, c. 1840s, flat-top case with hinged upper door, painted roman numeral iron dial with black surround, marked "O. Brackett Vassalboro," waist door with glazed pendulum aperture, all resting on a high scroll-cut base, thirty-hour weight-powered movement with iron plates, lead weight and brass-faced pendulum, ht. 29 in.

Literature: A similar clock is shown in Furniture Treasury, by Wallace Nutting, plate 3420. This clock is pictured in a Eugene J. Sussel March 1950 ad in The Magazine Antiques.

Oliver Gerrish Mahogany Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, Portland, Maine, c. 1826, carved gilt eagle finial atop the mahogany case, roman numeral painted iron dial with pierced "S-loop" steel hands, gilt rope-turned frames enclosing the original reverse-painted glass tablets, center reading in a banner "Patent," lower glass depicting a river scene, terminating in the original gilt bracket, chestnut backboard, single screw holding the eight-day brass movement with dead beat escapement, maintaining power, and knife-edge suspension, and marked twice with the Gerrish hallmarks, ht. 40 in.
