DESCRIPTION: Jacob Gorgas 30 hour tall case flat top clock. Walnut flat top case housing 30 hour movement made by Jacob Gorgas (d. 1798) working in Ephrata, Lancaster County Pennsylvania. The clock of typical form with rectangular base inset with a six side panel rising to a waist with a tombstone topped door in the middle. The bonnet with a bold cornice. The painted dial signed "Jacob Gorgas" and housing behind it a 30 hour movement. Gorgas was an important Lancaster County clockmaker having ties to both the Ephrata Cloister and the Mennonite community. MEASUREMENTS: 98" high x 17" wide at base x 10" deep. CONDITION: Running.
