A 19th century American tall clock by Austin Steele (ca. 1820). 30-hour weight driven time and strike wooden movement with a Patriotic painted wood dial having subsidiary seconds and calendar dials with Roman numerals marked "Austin Steele". Softwood case with a flat molded top above a shaped dial door and rectangular waist door and base with cut out base. Refinished with some surface wear, lacks seconds hand, replaced weights, running momentarily when cataloged. 84 1/2" high. ESTIMATE $600-800

Austin Chittenden Wood Works Column Clock: With 30 hour wooden works; an unmarked wooden/paper dial; a fairly good interior label; the weights and the pendulum. The case has stenciled columns and headboard.
Not tested.
(The head board has been replaced. The splats may have been redone. The top right capper is missing. The top door hinge needs to be re-attached to the door.)
