English. 1850s. Walnut. Mercury pendulum. The silvered, circular dial is elegantly framed within a split arch pediment bonnet. Dial marked, "John Simmonds, Froxfield Wilts". Original finish. Early 18th century tall case clock with a very fine marquetry inlaid walnut case, with movement by John Ellicott. One of the most famous 18th Century English clockmakers, John Ellicott was born in 1706 and succeeded his clockmaker father who died in 1733. In 1738 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society. He later became clockmaker to King George III and made many fine and unusual clocks. [101" H x 23" W x 11 1/2" D]. Face patina worn, various splits, some losses. Missing four bun feet.

John Wood Mahogany Tall Case Clock. Brass dial has 10 in. chapter ring with black incised Roman hour numerals and Arabic 5 minute markers, signed John Wood, Philadelphia, sub seconds dial and 31 day sub calendar dial, has gilt pierced spandrels, moon phase dial and fancy pierced hands (repainted); quality brass, weight driven movement has drop hammer strike, iron weights, brass pulley, brass covered pendulum bob stamped V.R. Moyer with steel stick (no suspension spring). In a mahogany case, bonnet has broken arch crest with rosettes and flame finials, turned columns, large one board door having nice grain. 94 in. high

A Federal tall case clock having an eight-day movement and brass dial marked for John Waldron, Cornhill, London. Mahogany case having floral rosettes over a shaped case door flanked by reeded quarter columns, raised on French flared feet. 96in tall x 19-1/2in wide x 11in deep. 13in waist. Complete with weights, pendulum, and both keys.

Circa 1750-1760; oak case, flat top bonnet with seashell and other inlays, on bracket feet, with reticulated and engraved brass face, signed "Jn Barber BUTLEY" with engraved silver metal face, 85 in. H., 18.5 in. W., 9 3/4 in. D.
