Outstanding new Chelsea Clock, the mariner model. The metal base and case is forged from thick brass. The clock face is deeply etched brass, silvered, enameled and lacquered. The clock movement has over 300 parts. 17 1/2″H x 14 1/2″W x 6″D dial. 5 1/2″ deep at base. Condition: excellent.

Description

Brass marine Chelsea Helms Wheel Ship’s Bell clock, numeric dial marked “Chelsea Ship’s Bell”. Serial number 526980. Retains winding key. 11 1/2″ total dia. 20th century. Provenance: descended in the family of Josephus “Jo” Conn Guild of Chattanooga, TN (1887-1969).

Cast aluminum ships case by Foxboro Instrument Co. of Foxboro, Mass. has a black painted finish, hinged door bezel with latch & door glass. 10 in. silvered dial with black incised Arabic hour numbers, sub seconds dial, black open moon hands and Foxboro logo. Has a quality brass, spring driven movement by Chelsea Clock Co. Boston U.S.A. and numbered 349927, in good running condition. 12.5 in. dia. x 5 in. deep.
