(Finish has some bluish corrosion in some areas, the base has been repainted, the urn has been broke et the stem and the tip of the minute hand has been broken off.)

ANSONIA ‘MUSIC AND POETRY’ DOUBLE STATUE CLOCK

Description

Double statue mantle clock circa 1894, double sunk enamel dial with exposed escapement, 20.75 inches high, tima and strike movement signed Ansonia. One statue has been partially refinished, otherwise very good with no damage or repairs noting a chip and line to the dial. No pendulum bob.

Description

DESCRIPTION: Ansonia Clock Company Music and Poetry 8-day mantle clock. Circa 1894. Japanese bronze figures of two women (Music and Poetry) on either side of the central clock. Double sunk enamel dial with exposed escapement and Arabic numerals. On a black metal base. Marked “Manufactured by The Ansonia Clock Co. New York, United States of American” on the dial and with hallmark and “Ansonia Clock Co. Patented June 14, ’81, New York, U.S.A.,” on the movement. With two keys. Ly 483. MEASUREMENTS: 17-1/2″ x 23-1/2″ x 8″. CONDITION: Running. Chimes. Some wear to bronze figurines. Loss to central screw that attaches the top central finial to the base.

Ansonia Gilt-Metal “Music & Poetry” Mantel Clock

Description

Ansonia Gilt-Metal “Music and Poetry” Figural Mantel Clock, fourth quarter 19th century, Brooklyn, New York, the enameled base holding allegorical figures of Music and Poetry flanking the clock, in a molded metal case mounted with ring handles terminating in masques, and an urn-form finial, signed on both the works and on the porcelain dial, which has an exposed escapement, h. 21-1/4″, w. 23-1/2″, d. 8″.

Condition

The metal elements of the clock retain an old gold painted surface. The glass bezel and porcelain dial are both fine. No sign of damage. There is a winding key present; however, no pendulum.

Description

Ansonia Double Figural Mantle Clock titled “Music & Poetry”. Standing white metal classical figural woman wearing long robes, one to the left playing a harp, the figure to the right reads from a book propped on a table beside her; has a tall clock tower in the center with urn finial, maiden’s heads and ring handles on the sides and relief decorated inset panels in the base with birds and musical instruments, on a black enamel painted iron base with pierced decorated mounts and feet. 5 in. inset porcelain dial signed with Ansonia trade mark, has black Roman hour numerals, exposed Brocot escapement with jeweled pallets, black hands and hinged door bezel; brass 8 day spring driven movement signed “Ansonia Clock Co., New York”, has an half hour strike on a coiled gong. In good overall condition, the case retains a clean & attractive look. 21 in. high x 22 in. wide x 8 in. deep.
