ANSONIA BRASS & COPPER CO. BRASS-FRAME HANGING LIBRARY LAMP, polychrome transfer-decorated opal umbrella-form shade depicting lilac blossoms, stamped font holder with non-removable font of unknown association. Frame with cast scroll supports set with amethyst faceted-glass jewels, additional jewel set in drop under the font holder, shade holder set with two amethyst jewels and supported by a fancy chain and leveler with matching jewels, horizontal spring tension mechanism. Fitted with a period Niagara central-draft slip burner, red-rim opal smoke bell, and colorless prisms. Fourth quarter 19th century. 43″ H extended as shown, umbrella shade 13 3/4″ D.

ANSONIA BRASS & COPPER CO. BRASS-FRAME HANGING LIBRARY LAMP, opaque pink Consolidated Quilt umbrella-form shade, stamped font holder with brass liner, drop-in font with snowflake pattern to shoulder. Frame with scroll supports, branch and leaf ornamentation set with amber faceted-glass jewels, shade holder with floral pattern and supported by a fancy chain with matching jewels and ornaments, horizontal spring tension mechanism. Fitted with a period E. Miller slip burner, pink to colorless shade which fits on burners shade ring, frosted finish and a swirling panel pattern, stamped brass smoke bell, horizontal spring tension mechanism, colorless prisms. Non-period chimney and colorless prisms. Shade by the Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co. Fourth quarter 19th century. 40″ H extended as shown, umbrella shade 14″ D.

Condition

Excellent overall condition, font holder with repairs to interior of base, some light denting, umbrella shade with normal mold roughness to top, as made. Font shade with two small shallow chips and flakes to fitter, remaining components undamaged.
