French Japy Freres Massive Victorian Mantle, Circa 1875, 5″ concave incised marble dial, 8-day, circular brass spring driven movement, ormolu mounted Belgian black marble, at one time this clock had a large bronze statue sitting on top, good condition, with minor losses to marble, movement needs cleaning. Relief cast bronze case in the form of a bell with handle on top, filigree borders around the circumference with Latin script and panels with figural muses, stands on turned feet. 3.5 in. brass dial with porcelain inserts, pierced trefoil hands; typical round French brass 8 day spring driven movement signed ÂJapy Freres has an half hour strike on a coiled gong. In good overall condition, has damage to one of the hour porcelain tags. 11.25 in. high x 8.25 in. dia.

Japy Freres French Bronze Mantle Clock. 4 in. bronze dial with a copper tone, has incised Roman hour numerals, fancy gilt hands and brass bezel with beveled door glass; typical round French brass 8 day spring driven movement is signed Japy Freres and has an half hour strike on a steel bell. In a bronze case with figural robed maiden side columns in front of scrolling corbels and gilt highlights. Case has a replaced top finial and a lacquered finish. 17 in. high x 12 in. wide x 6.5 in. deep.

Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia”, 8-day, circular brass movement, well executed French bronze mantle clock with hand painted cobalt blue neoclassical scrollwork tile inserts with illegible signature on rear, a very handsome & well made clock, suitable for a formal setting, small tile on clock top cracked, otherwise excellent condition with good patina.
