Skeleton Clock with Glass Dome
Presumably France, around 1870
Fine enamel clock face with Roman numbers
Steel hands; blue tempered and perforated
Delicate movement with recoil escapement
8-day-movement
Brass pendulum
Oval glass dome and wooden base
Dimensions: 27 x 16 x 10 cm (height x width x depth
Fully functional; very good condition
This small and elegant skeleton clock is placed on a wooden base and is covered by an oval glass dome. It is presumably French and was built around 1870. The enamel clock face is very fine and shows blue Roman numbers and a minute index. The steel hands are blue tempered and perforated. The delicate 8-day-movement has a recoil escapement and a beautiful brass pendulum.
The skeleton clock is in a very good overall condition and only shows small traces of age and use. It measures 27 cm in height, 16 cm in width and 10 cm in depth. The clock was flawlessly during a short-time test; but long term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed. (cbo)
